Temptation. It is the subtle lure that draws us further from God and closer to sin. It makes us focus more on the desires of our flesh and less on the will of the Holy Spirit.
Temptation can look different for each person but I’m going to focus on sexual immorality. Princesses, guard your senses. Let’s be real, guys are not the only ones who deal with lust. Beware of what you watch on TV & YouTube, what music you listen to, the websites you spend time on, the words you say, and most important, what you think about. Many times, what you entertain in your mind can fuel temptation in the flesh. Be aware and take your thoughts captive.
“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.”
(James 1:12-13 ESV)
God does not tempt you but He does teach you to live righteously. His Spirit guides and helps us to renew our thinking, control our hormones, and walk away when confronted with temptation. Don’t be ashamed, He is the One who created your sex drive in the first place but you don’t have to manage it by yourself. My favorite prayer is, “God, I submit my body to Your will and I ask You to keep my sex drive dormant till marriage.”
Princesses, I pray this prayer for you as well. Also, may you rise up and be mighty women of God and a light in this world. I pray protection over each of you as you are learning to walk as daughters of the King. Father, guide them on the paths of righteousness for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
