Royals by LordeI was looking on iTunes today and the second top single is “Royals” by Lorde. Have you heard it? I have, everywhere. It’s pretty catchy, makes me bob my head, and sway a bit too. But if you really listen to that beginning chorus, it starts with “And we’ll never be royals. It don’t run in our blood.”

Yet I AM royalty, and it does run in my blood.

It should be “And yes we are royals. It runs in our blood.”

My mom taught me something when I was younger; always check the lyrics you listen to because you never know what you might be singing. So this song made me think, what if I sung this all the time? It would be as though I was saying: I’ll never be royalty. It doesn’t run in my blood. That’s not who I am. Sorry Jesus, guess you missed that little bit when you died for me.

Um. No.

Princess with Robe and CrownThis is what it says in 1 Peter 2:9 (The Message Version)-

“But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.”

So little princesses, you are royalty. You are chosen by God. You have Jesus’ blood in your veins and that means your inheritance is pretty darn big.

Now, I want you to close your eyes (but read this next part before you do).
Clear your mind and picture you walking and doing your everyday stuff. Picture you doing homework or chores. But now, picture yourself with this amazing golden crown on your head and a long velvety robe behind your back.

Now open your eyes.

You just pictured yourself as you really are. A Royal. :) I love you!
