Not Of This World

Not of This WorldA few weeks ago my mom got me this really cool t-shirt by “Not Of This World“. Apparently, it’s this Christian apparel company. I recognized the logo, I’d seen it pasted onto the bumper of cars before, but I confess, I’d never knew what the logo meant until now. I always wondered what that little symbol was…

That logo got me thinking. It’s true, we really aren’t of this world… we belong to God’s kingdom. See, this makes me very happy because like a lot of people in this generation, I’m mixed with multiple cultural backgrounds. Technically, my history can be traced back to three different continents! Growing up and even now, I do feel part of the country I was born in, but when it comes to my background, it has been hard to fit in.

I’d always had this desire to physically look like I belonged to a certain people or race. I used to want to represent a place to the point where people would know where I was from just by looking at my features, what I wore or even by how I talked.Little Duckling Left OutAs people, it’s in our nature to want to belong. We connect with people who have shared interests, or sometimes we relate more to people who look like us. Even people that aren’t mixed have probably experienced the feeling of not being always accepted and struggling to fit into this world.

What does that mean if we are part of God’s kingdom? Like I said before, it’s good news! As children of God, we do have a place we belong to, we have a culture and community we can call family and furthermore, we can represent and look like we come from God’s kingdom. I’m not talking about what you wear or how you do your hair because in God’s kingdom, you belong not because of your outward appearance but because of your inward appearance. Our passport to His kingdom has been paid for in love and by love, we reflect God’s Kingdom. We Belong to God's KingdomSo Princesses, anytime you feel like you don’t belong, or are having trouble fitting in, just remember there is a place where you do belong… tucked away in God’s arms, nestled close to His heart, sitting on His lap as He sits on His throne. You are His beautiful child and you will always have a home in Him and a place in His kingdom.

I found this scripture from John 17: 13-16-

I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.

About TAYP

To All You Princess is a blog for you, written to the daughters of the King. This is a place where vulnerability and grace co-exist, where we seek truth, admit defeat and find hope in the chaos. This is a place where we pray for you and remind you of God’s promises.

Because you are loved.

I have heard it said that harboring unforgiveness I have heard it said that harboring unforgiveness is like trying to poison another person by drinking the poison yourself; it hurts you more than them. I’ve been reflecting on this and though it’s true, it’s hard to let go. When the wound is fresh, the pain, and those who caused the pain, can be all that occupies our thoughts. You know what I’m talking about, right?
•
We live in a broken world where hurt people, hurt people. There may be no logic at all why we or someone else hurt others, whether accidental or intentional. But that’s just it, regardless of the reason or the sin, Jesus has saved us all. He has forgiven you and me, and—I must add—those who have hurt us and those we love.
•
When I remember Jesus and how He forgave those who pinned Him to the cross, how He forgives me, someone fallen from grace, I think, “Who am I to not forgive when I have been forgiven of so much? Who am I to say, ‘I can’t’ when He could?” I’m not saying the pain goes away in an instant, no. Though forgiveness is a choice, healing is a process. Neither are certain actions excusable, of course not. But I know if Jesus could forgive and let go, so can we. And He will help us to do it.
•
Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
Colossians 3:13
•
He’s knocking, wanting to remove the poison from our hands so we might live and be free. You may not know how to let go, and if your only prayer is, “Jesus, help me,” then start there. A prayer I pray is, “Lord, I forgive, help me to continue to forgive, and heal my heart.” And I will pray this as many times as I need to. (Mathew 18:21-22)
•
Princesses, may Jesus heal our hearts, give us eyes to see and ears to hear His truth, free us from pain, and also, give us wisdom to know when to ask for forgiveness too. Ultimately, Princesses, I pray Jesus helps us to be more like Him in all we say and do so we might be a bright light in this world, reflecting Him through our life. 💛
Remember, you are loved.
